Public Art and Restaurant Tour

Art, along with food and drink, sounds like a sensational way to spend some leisure time. 

Check out these fantastic stops and selfie spots in Greater St. Cloud Minnesota and be the star of your day!

Start your adventure by parking in the Centre Square Ramp at 601 1st St South, it is free after 5 pm and all day on weekends! You are going to make a fun loop around town and end up back at the ramp, how convenient!  Head East out of the ramp and you will quickly spot the House of Pizza Mural , and just look across the street by the bus depot and you will find the beautiful St. Cloud Attractions Mural.  While there, stop in for a quick drink or appetizer at The Olde Brick House and check out this charming Irish themed turn-of-the-century building, which is an art piece in itself! 

 

 

Follow 5th Avenue North behind the Convention Center Parking Lot towards the river. This will lead you down to the mighty Mississippi River ‘s walking path, known as the Beaver Island Trail , where you can stop at the Selfie Station, admire the Great Shining River 12-piece sculpture and the Abraham Lincoln Statue.  Get some steps in enjoying the river walk for as long as you want, then head towards Mexican Village for the giant mural (and maybe a giant margarita) before you stroll on…

Head to the alley of 619 W Saint Germain Street, in downtown St. Cloud, to capture yourself with this brilliant butterfly, shown on the right.  Spread your wings and have some fun with this mural, the bright colors and message are sure to put a smile on your face! Rainy days can’t get down on art walk day, “grab” a hold of this umbrella for some cute shots, right across from the butterfly!

Walk across the Saint Germain street and find the Granite Trio,  the crown jewel of the downtown mall area, pose and climb on these gigantic granite sculptures til your heart is content.   Many fun and unique shops adorn this main street, stop in and buy some souvenirs while you are here!                                          

 

 

Once you get some frame-worthy shots, go to The White Horse for lunch and not only get a great meal, but check out the many pieces of cool

and vivid art hanging in this historic bar and restaurant. Choose your most eye-catching pieces as you sip on a delicious beverage with your favorite people. There is even a patio to dine on if the weather is nice. The White Horse will not disappoint, it is a great place to stop on your adventurous artful afternoon, from there continue walking West.  

You will come to the beautiful Paramount Theater, where the marquee is a vintage piece of art all by itself, take a moment to marvel at this historic theater and spot the “pencil” outside of it – Write on! Image may be NSFW.

Take lots of selfies and carry on across the street to see the beauty of this 12″ tall granite River Mosaic statue that is a depiction of the Mississippi River in glass, based on a painting by local artist Bela Petheo. Different colors flow through it depending on the light and time of day.

Wrap around the corner to the Wirth Center for the Performing Arts and see if you can spot the whole-wall tribute to art and music done by local artists Jim and Rebekah at Traumen Glasberg. They still have a studio located in Downtown St. Cloud and have worked on numerous area projects. Enjoy your time here and then walk back East to the ramp where your fun day all began!
